19:00: Panel and presentations at Caledonien Hall

Panel:Energy, Climate and Research

We are living in a climate and a nature crisis, where energy production is an important part of the negative effects of human activity. Furthermore, energy is weaponized in the war in Ukraine, disrupting distribution and challenging democratic control. In short, we must change how we use, produce, and distribute energy.

Energy is closely connected to many of the UN development goals. Research and development connected to electricity, oil and gas, as well as transport, building materials and storage, and finally green energy sources like solar and wind power, is an important part of the solution.

Panelists:

  • Ellen Nordgård-Hansen (coordinator of energy systems in NORCE Technology)
  • Frode Kroglund (senior advisor of environmental office at the Agder state administrator)
  • Mikaela Vasstrøm (associate professor at Department of Global Development and Planning, and senior Researcher at Agder Research)
  • Reyn Joseph O'Born (associate professor at the Department of Engineering, part of Battery Coast Strategy and leader of ENTERS UiA research group on circular economy)
